This deciduous tree has a spreading habit and often has more than one stem/trunk. Cercis siliquastrum has heart-shaped bluish-green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Clusters of pea-like, pink flowers are produced before the leaves emerge in spring. (Cercis siliquastrum is a member of the pea and bean family). Bean-like fruits follow the flowers in summer.
The Judas Tree gets it’s name because it is thought that Judas hung himself from a specimen of this tree.
Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'
