The Giant Redwood is one of the tallest trees in the world, some reaching over 100m in height. Some of the oldest trees in the world are also Giant Redwoods, some living for more than 4000 years. This evergreen coniferous tree has scale-like green leaves that omit an aniseed-like fragrance. Sequoiadendron giganteum belongs in the same family of plants as Yew (Taxus sp.). The bark of this tree is thick and reddish-brown in colour. A tree best suited to a very large garden or park.
